How DOREDU collects, uses, and protects the information you share with us. Last updated July 2026.
In plain terms: DOREDU CORP (Doredu) collects only the information you choose to send us through our forms, uses it solely to deliver our programs and respond to you, stores it securely, and never sells or rents it. You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time.
Information We Collect
We collect information you voluntarily provide when you interact with Doredu, primarily through forms on this website. Depending on the form, this may include:
- Program applications: your name, contact details, the program you're interested in, and any background you share to help us serve you.
- Volunteer inquiries: your name, contact details, availability, skills, and areas of interest.
- Partnership inquiries: your name, organization, role, and the nature of the partnership you propose.
- Contact and career applications: your name, email, message, and any materials you choose to submit.
- Documents you attach: if you attach a file to a program application, or a resume to a job application, we store that file and keep it with your submission. We accept PDF, JPEG, PNG, and Word documents up to 10 MB.
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address.
When you send us a form, we also save a scrambled version of the internet address (IP address) the form was sent from, along with standard information your browser sends automatically. We scramble that address on purpose, using a one-way method: once it is saved, it cannot be turned back into the original address — not by us, and not by anyone else who sees the record. We use it only to detect spam and repeated abuse of our forms. We do not use it to find out where you are or who you are.
How We Use It
We use the information you provide only to:
- review and respond to your application or inquiry;
- deliver, coordinate, and improve our educational programs and services;
- communicate with you about your request, your enrollment, or — if you opted in — our updates;
- understand community needs in aggregate so we can serve more people more effectively; and
- meet our legal and reporting obligations as a nonprofit.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Legal Basis & Consent
When you submit a form, you consent to Doredu processing the information for the purposes described above. We process data on the basis of your consent, to take steps you've requested (such as reviewing an application), and to pursue our legitimate interest in operating our charitable mission. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, though this will not affect processing already carried out.
Data Storage & Security
Form submissions are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored in a secured database hosted by reputable service providers on our behalf. Access is restricted to authorizedDoredu staff and volunteers who need it to do their work. We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes above or to comply with our legal obligations, after which we delete or anonymize it; see How Long We Keep Your Information below. While no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Files you attach to an application are held in restricted, non-public storage. They are not listed or linked anywhere on this website and cannot be reached by guessing a web address; only authorized staff reviewing your submission can open them.
We also keep a security and activity log of events on this site — form submissions, account sign-ins and sign-in attempts, sign-ups, and password resets. Each entry records what happened, when, the email address involved, and the internet address and browser the request came from, so that we can investigate abuse and protect accounts. Unlike the form records described above, the internet address in this log is stored as-is rather than scrambled.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep each kind of record only as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or as long as the law requires. This applies to program applications and their attachments, volunteer and partnership inquiries, contact messages, career applications and resumes, newsletter sign-ups, and security and activity logs.
We are finalizing a formal, per-record retention schedule with our board, and we will publish the specific periods here once it is adopted. In the meantime we do not keep any of these records longer than the purpose they were collected for requires, and we will delete your information sooner on request.
When a period ends, we delete the record or remove the details that identify you. You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see Your Rights below.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the site and our programs — for example, website hosting, database storage, and email delivery. These providers process data only on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. When online giving launches, donations will be handled by an established, PCI-compliant payment processor;Doredu will not store your full payment-card details. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we link to.
Doredu does not sell, trade, or share applicant information with immigration-enforcement agencies or with any other government agency, and we do not hand it over voluntarily. We will disclose it only where we are compelled to by valid legal process, such as a lawful subpoena or a court order.
Your Rights
You have the right to ask us to access, correct, update, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. If you subscribed to updates, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us.
To ask us to delete your information: email contact@doredu.org with the subject line Data deletion request. Tell us which form you sent and the email address or phone number you used, so we can find your record. We will acknowledge your request as soon as we can and tell you when it is done — no specific response window is promised here because none has been adopted, and committing to a deadline nobody has agreed to would be worse than saying so plainly. You can write to us in your own language. To exercise any of your other rights, reach us at the contact details below.
Children's Privacy
Our website and forms are intended for adults, and where programs serve minors we collect their information through a parent, guardian, or sponsoring organization. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 online. If you believe a child has provided us information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our programs and practices evolve or as the law requires. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version here. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
